“I go back to the deathbed conversation that I'm like, I'm gonna sit there and I'm gonna have, like, these parsing thoughts, maybe not, and be like Yeah.”
I go back to the deathbed conversation that I'm like, I'm gonna sit there and I'm gonna have, like, these parsing thoughts, maybe not, and be like Yeah. That's a bummer. But I think that's probably a fleeting thought that people have. I'm like, what are all the things that I didn't get to do? But, like, you think on your deathbed one of the one of the fleeting thoughts is, like, I should've done the 100 mile trail run? I have no idea what probably not. Yeah. But I have no idea what people say. Right? Meaning, like, when you're there.
Why this clip
The 'deathbed conversation' framing provides a stark mental model for prioritizing life decisions. The philosophical approach to goal-setting and regret avoidance offers a framework others can apply to their own ambitious pursuits.
